Whilst drilling rig electricians will have typically developed the necessary knowledge and skills through in-house training, this new four-day course aims to standardise and refresh their capabilities, further enhancing the skills and competence of personnel.
The course, aimed at drilling rig electricians, has been developed in conjunction with a leading offshore drilling services provider and recognises that until now, industry-standard training for the role has not existed.
Explaining the industry relevance of the new course, PFC technical director, Brian Crichton said: “Without regular updates to skills learned either from colleagues or from previous training, there is a very real risk of complacency when it comes to carrying out electrical activities in the workplace. The Drilling Rig Electricians’ course places a strong emphasis upon the non-technical knowledge and skills required to mitigate that risk.”
